During your internship

You have been granted an internship at INRAE. Congratulations! Below, we describe the support and benefits you will receive.

Joining your host research unit

When you arrive, HR staff at your host research centre will give you the following:

  • Documents and information related to your working conditions, including any health and safety risks
  • ID badges to access the centre and its collective catering services
  • Equipment and sign-in information to access INRAE’s computing resources

You will be welcomed by the director of your host research unit and their team, who give you a tour of the unit and explain its rules and procedures. Just like a permanent employee, you must respect the unit’s rules, regulations, working conditions, health & safety requirements, and guidelines for protecting and preserving INRAE property and infrastructure. Any serious failure to do so can result in your stipend being revoked or your internship being terminated.

Educational support

To help you develop your target skills and write up your internship report, you will be mentored by an INRAE employee, whose identity is indicated on the internship agreement. Your mentor will welcome you to the institute and advise you over the course of your internship.

Working conditions

Working hours & leave

INRAE interns are allowed to work a maximum of 7 hours per day (i.e., 35 hours per week). You must respect your host centre’s working hours at all times. You will receive 2.5 days of leave for each full month of work.

Collective catering services

You will have access to the collective catering services at your host research centre.

Transportation

INRAE may cover part of the cost of travel between your residence and internship location.

Reach out to the centre’s HR staff to find out more.

Career counselling

INRAE provides personalised career counselling to international interns at all of its research centres. You can schedule a private, individual appointment with a professional counsellor at any time. A variety of services are offered, such as help with your career choices, internship project, resume, and job search.

Certificate of completion

At the end of your internship, you will receive a certificate of completion, which is issued by the HR staff at your host research centre. This certificate specifies the dates and duration of your internship and the amount of your stipend (if you received one).
