Doctoral studies at INRAE

Perhaps you are already looking for a PhD project and want to do your research at INRAE. In this section, you can learn how to identify a host research laboratory, find a PhD opportunity, and apply for a spot.

Establishing contact

The first step is to figure out which INRAE laboratories or teams are carrying out research that appeals to you. Go to the section KEY INFORMATION to learn about the institute’s research and identify research units of interest.

Applying for PhDs

Generally, INRAE researchers hire PhD students as contractual employees. If you see an opportunity that interests you, you can learn more by reaching out to the contact person in the ad. You can then send in a copy of your CV along with a cover letter.

These documents will be reviewed by the research unit’s search team. If you are a promising candidate, you will be invited to one or more job interviews. In some cases, you may have to pass a written or practical exam.
